Here's a total 4 speed swap for your five cylinder. It's a Euro car, so chances are good it has the original 38ish pound flywheel that gets missed for a lot of the five cylinder swaps. Includes car carcass. Price is right for a trans and all the conversion gear.
Wow- no comments on this? I understand Portland may be a long way for some BW users, but this is a package a lot of people here spend a lot of time drooling over, isn't it?
I saw it within 4 hours of being listed. It would have been gone, if it was a 5 spd. Getting this winters project close to done. For next project looking for a 617 turbo/5 spd to stick into a good R107 chassis I have. Any lines on a 5 spd???
Not lately. I sold an iron-box 5 speed a while back, but that would have been a tough install without pedals, shifter, etc. Found it on Craigslist. Sold it via eBay to a vintage MB speed shop in LA.
And I have a Getrag 5 gang and all the trimmings in the garage waiting to go into my '82 turbo coupe. Came from an '83 Euro 280E from another BW member.
Found 'em around. Just keep looking. Good luck.
Just to make it interesting, I'll throw this pic in.
I know that they are out there, just not many. From what I learned on this forum, it is the same 5 spd that is in my 84 280SL. The best would be to find a wrecked donor car. Mach4 put a 617 into his R107, and has a good write up on how he did it. Got me to thinking how cool a turbo diesel, 5 spd, R107 would be. If you hear of one would appreciate a heads up. THANKS
I texted the seller for a bit. He seems firm on price (not worth it for me, my too light 240D flywheel is already balanced perfectly). He also has a lien on the title, as he bought the property, and the car was sitting on it.
Not a true enthusiast, as he was wondering if I have a spare injection pump (presumably to get it running to make more money). I didn't even feel like explaining that a euro 300D has a rare M type injection pump.
Did any of you west coast members pick up the 82 300TD with a 5 speed?? It was in last nights CL. I called at 9.00 this morning but was already sold. Will keep looking.
what do these rare m type pumps look like.
i just pulled a pump of a 300d that was converted and shipped over. it is a na engine and mine is the usa market 300dt. pumps look different
