Cool, uh Euro front bumper parts. The painted black metal pieces hold the bumper ends in line. The rubber is for fit and finish or trim. Unless you're planning on making the one piece bumper air dam, you might want to use them.
They are required so you can mount the front bumper corners to the fender. The corners have "pins" that slide into slots which these brackets have. Without the slots the corners of the bumpers will droop.
Weird thing is the front bumper has these rubber inserts between the bumper and the body, but the rear bumpers do not have any rubber filler or metal bracket - just two cube slots that allow the rear bumper corners to slide into so they don't droop (same function as these front brackets you have but smaller).
Nope, just 2 on the side, and one way down low. When the side slides through, it's 2" short of bottoming out on the rear section when using said hole with the plug.
Those are the three holes, the middle hole is what you need. With the rear mounting kit (do you have pics for reference?) the top edge of the rear bumper corners are just at the level of the horizontal crease on the fender.
Bottoming out in terms of the main center piece going flush against the rear of the car. The side mounts are dead on of the hole you mention, it's just not far enough back for the slide to continue through. I think MBZ300CD had these on his coupe if that solves anything :dunno:
Do you have a photo of the mounting brackets on the center piece for reference?
The mounting brackets (are they Z shaped or T shaped?) mount to the bumper directly, maybe they're mounted with some washers that push the bumper a bit farther back than how they're supposed to be.
Sorry Karugs, my work week has stalled this out for now. It was nice though having some wide open time this past weekend to play with the cars for a change.
The corner pieces are also adjustable in relation to the center piece. 2x 13mm nuts hold them in place on the center piece. If the bumper corners are 2 inches too far back, you might want to adjust the corner pieces so they move closer forward. Then adjust the bracket to raise or lower the bumper in relation to the vehicle chassis.
