Ok, my brother just bought a 1984 Euro Spec 300D. Looks like the same engine they used in the non-turbo 300D they stopped selling in the US in 1981. Can someone tell me what the white circle thing in the left corner is that the fuel line goes to before the injector pump?
After much investigation we found a Racor sticker on it and yes it does have power going to it, so it is some type of heater or water separator, pump? There is no filter element inside, only a metal basket looking thing.
The fuel runs tank>white thing>lift pump>inj pump
Also there is no inline primary fuel filter so not sure if that thing is supposed to take its place?
If there is a drain on the bottom, it is a fuel/water seperator. Perhaps it is also a fuel warmer, you could check whether the electric wires have 12V on it.
If there is no inline filter, the previous owner thought this would be an improvement.
Yes some people go crazy for them and others dont .....you can leave it or remove it....its basically up to you. BTW we want more pictures of the car please......i know everyone was thinking it
