Rallycrossed my 123 this past Sunday.

hello everybody, i rallycrossed my 123 turbo manual sedan this past Sunday with the San Diego club racing series. I took fifth place in the 2wd class out of a field of 17 cars. The course was on part of a motocross track and had a few small hills and a lot of bumps and dips. I was really surprised at how well my 123 performed. It did not bottom out once and handled the rougher parts of the course with ease. There was a straightaway that was fairly bumpy that most cars would bottom out on if pressed too hard. My 123 sailed right through the bumps, and i definitely saved time by going fast there. All and all I had a blast racing my car and will definitely do it again in the future.

Here is a video of one of my slower runs.

The white car at the end with blue tape on it was a rental. It got the crap beat out of it, and had parts flying off on the track. Still pulled some great times tho

Final time scores

Oh and for the purists, don't worry my car is a dented, salvage titled car that i have have had a lot of fun with in the eight years i have owned it.

Was shocked to see that it beat a infiniti g20 (that's my other car) then I saw that the driver screwed up on the 4th run, that was really close to the datson 240 thou that's fairly impressive. Was the 4runner broken or something? Aren't those 4 wheel drive?

The Infinity ran into a dirt berm on one of the last corners. It high centered and got a DNF (did not finish). I think they assign the slowest lap of the day +10 seconds if you DNF.

I would love to rallycross mine, except I know that something would break/melt/catch on fire. My body is pretty beat up too, though, so if I replaced enough of the parts, I'd definitely do it. I haven't even seen any opportunities near me, however, so maybe it's a moot point.

That engine-trans. combo is awesome, by the way.

Is that liver red interior? if it is i need the screw caps that go under the glove box on the lower plastic piece, right on top of where your passengers knees go.

Probably an average day for the hundreds of W123 taxi cabs still bouncing around the roads of the Middle East!

They do pretty well in the dirt don't they? It looks like you did a nice little slide around the 1:00 mark on the video. Fun stuff!
