OM616 ENGINE TO POWER MY SAWMILL

I am interested in using an engine (OM616) from on old 240D that I have. The mill currently has a Wisconsin gas 4 cylinder with about 30-35 hp. It drives a hydraulic pump at approx. 24-2600 rpm. I've learned the M/B engine has about twice the hp and I'm sure more than twice the torque. Between the engine and the pump is a gearbox where if I have to I might be able to change gears to acheive the needed rpm to the pump. My questions are: Has anyone done this or seen it done? Will govoning be a problem? What is the average hourly fuel consumption of this engine. Any sugjestions or Ideas would be great. Thanks in advance

Type in "Mercedes 240D generator" in the search bar on youtube. It'll be the first video at the top of the page.

Between 1000rpm-4500rpm the engine is not governed. You will need a mechanism that forces it to maintain steady rpm.
