1979 280E

Hey guys! I'm new to the forum and wanted to tell you about the great car I just picked up. I was trolling the Providence craigslist and came across this 280 and it caught my attention. It had a brief description and the asking price was $500. I just went and look at it today and it is absolutely immaculate. It's a two owner car purchased new at Inskip Mercedes in Warwick with 40K miles on it. Interior is absolutely mint, factory sunroof, Becker Europa Cassette which still works and a few other things. Has a stack of service receipts since new of which most recently included a new catalytic converter, brakes, and battery. It's got all the original books from Mercedes and the service stickers in the door jamb, the original keys and a mint original first aid kit. Even the original spare tire and jack look like they've never been touched. As soon as I get it home I'll post some pictures up of it (Topaz brown I think is the color with a peanut butter interior.) If anyone has a 280 and might know any little hints on how to make it run tip top let me know!

Tyler

Well, $425 actually, but by the time I tow it home it'll be around $500, it's just too far to drive without it being registered and insured.

This is totally real, I've even got the original Hirschmann antenna lubricant packet in the glovebox to prove it. Just wait until this weekend when I get some better pictures of it especially after I give it a good wash and buff.

Like I said, after a good wash and buff it'll be great but, still you can't say it wasn't a great deal :P

Congrats! Looks like it has a lot of potential. I hope the AC is working too!
