300cd tranny fit a 240d?

Does this swap bolt up easy? I have an '81 300cd parts car with a good tranny and i'd like to swap it into my '82 240d. The thing I was wondering is are they the same size or is the 300cd tranny longer/shorter being that it's a 2dr coupe or is the difference of length made up in the driveshaft?

They have significantly different shifting controls. Compare the part numbers on the transmissions (right side, above the the pan).

Driveshafts are different for sure. Trannys are the same length and should swap. One problem would be in the vacuum controls, or lack of on early W123's. Is your 300CD a turbo? Turbo cars had a different transmission, but I believe they should still bolt up. Not sure if the turbos had a different vacuum system though.

the tranny can be used, yes.
the problem is adjustment of the shift controls. The diesels have 4 different control systems that i have seen. 1: only rod controlled 2: only vakuum controlled 3: rod and vakuum controlled 4: wire and vakuum controlled.
You have both trannys, so you can check if they have the same controls..
