I did not know how rare it was, but I have seen and heard one, a silver-green W123 AMG wagon, owned by a registered Importer in California, as his personal vehicle, the car has the metal AMG build plate on the door jamb and the vehicle is authentic. The engine sounds like a '60's American muscle car

Yes, the car is owned by Barry, over at Richmond Mercedes. He's the importer. I talk to him regularly, and him and the wifey use the car to fetch groceries, and bring the dogs to the groomers.
He told me of a woman he knows with a flawless, original AMG, 280CE (Like the red one pictured) living near him.
She is not aggressively selling the car, but wants $110k for it, if she were to encounter a serious buyer. I've recently kicked around the idea, of making the investment. I may, if the car is still available, in the next few months. Her husband bought it brand new, and Barry imported it for him. The husband passed about ten years ago, and the car has barely ever moved. Barry said the car has less than 20 thousand miles on it, and is like th day he brought it into the country. I've forgotten what year the thing is though..
It could well be the same red CE spotted that day?
