OK - I am installing new HD Bilstein's on the front of my 82 300CD and comforts on the rear. I have one of the new front shocks in, but I seem to have too much of the top of the schock bolt sticking up into the engine compartment. I have the rubber donut and washer on, but there is still some of the bolt showing without thread. If I put a nut on it and tighten it, I think I will run out of thread - make sense? Should I use two nuts or am I missing something?
My new shock came with two donuts - Am I supposted to be putting one above or inside of the dust cover? My old one just had one underneath the washer and nut on the top side. ARGH!! Also, do you put lock washers on the nuts on the bottom side? The kit came with some, but my old one didn't have any. The Bilstein instructions are NOT helpful. Any help would be very much appreciated. My car is torn apart and not happy. :crybaby2:
