85 300D with a vibration around 35 mph

Hello ,
A friend has just purchased an 85 300D with 137,000 mile's on it and he has complained about a vibration at about 35 mph...I know this is little to go on and I'll probably get more information from him the more he drive's it but does any 300D owner's have any ideas he can follow up...?

Thanks, 300se5spd

just at 35 or 35 and above?

could be a bent rim/rims, tire/wheel balance, or a tire issue.

I think at 35 - 40 mph....Good try but he has ruled that out ....He's thinking it is a deformed flex disc...I think he'll have it looked at today.....I'll report back but if any other guesses are out there let me know and I'll pass them on to him....

Winmutt ,
Good idea.. but I think a faulty bearing would make noise rather than vibrate. Also, a noise would intensify with speed…

No its the rubber that keeps the drive shaft in place around the bearing. If the flex discs are warped, how do you think this happened.

Winmutt,
I'm quoting the owner who isn't signed on here yet ....He had the car up today and he say's :
"The flex discs are relatively new and they must’ve been replaced at one point. The hanger bearing assembly is all intact. No visual wear or damage."
Any other ideas....?

What size tires is he running? Oversized tires can result in a harsher ride.

What kind of vibration? Where is he feeling it? Where does it seem to be coming from? (I feel it in the steering wheel and hear it from the front left)? Did the mechanic check to see if the the drive shaft was properly aligned? They may have seperated them to the the flex discs.

drive shaft needs to be re-balanced perhaps?
drive shaft vibration feels different than wheels out of balance. It's more of a slight shudder through the whole car...
