My car vibrates havily when in "Drive", full stop.

Hey,

I have a W123 200E from 1981. I love this car and I will go far to keep it going.

Apart from my motor running at too low rpm (i guess), the car will shake violently when i'm at full stop, with my foot on the brake.

If I switch to "Neutral", the motor will run much more smoothly. no shaking.
I tend to do this now when at red lights, so my teeth won't fall out from all that shaking.

Does anyone know where to attack this problem ?

No not yet but it does feel like it's a change in the way the motor is running
I could be wrong though.

Try bumping the idle up.

The thread author may need mounts, as noted above - both he and the guy from Romania need to check for air or vacuum leaks, classic cause of rough idle. Then check the cap/rotor, plugs and wires.

my car acts the same way....

very high idle when in neutral
obviously runs lean
extremely low idle when in gear (shaking)

this all leads to a vaccum leak, but no matter how much i try, i can't find it! do the vac lines going into the climate servo go to a vac resivoir in the dash? where is it's main sorce of vaccum?

If it's a similar setup with 190e 2.3's that have shaky idle, the idle control valve may need to be looked at. I just don't know where it is...

The fuel injector seals can leak and cause the rough idle.
