We should start a Cali W123 club! There's the Benzworld crew, the Mercedes Shop crew and some individuals from other sites as well. This seems like a good start since there have been two meets that aren't even a month from each other. I would imagine our group could grow and eventually we could hold rallies, large meets, sector meets (north, central and south Cali) and maybe even mini meets for some projects we could do once in a while.
The roster could now include all members from the previous meets and others who could also join on the succeeding ones.
Patrick Karugs 83 300D, 81 300TD
Patrick Benzoid123 84 300D
Patrick P-Rex85 85 300D
Curtis Diametricalbenz 79 240D, 74 240D, 76 300D, 77 6.9
Samson 83turbodiesel 83 300D
Marsh Obaja 82 300D
Chris Washerman 83 300D
Zack Boardmonger 83 300D, 81 300D Euro
Garrett Dieselkraut22 84 300D Euro
Since this is mostly of diesels, if we have enough members we could get sponsorship from biodiesel stations (if at all possible)? Or maybe even shop discounts for major repairs? Maybe we can scour the junkyards in hordes and grab stuff while we're at it! And then install them on the cars right after.
We could hold fun run meets, DIY days, detailing days, maybe even an overnight weekend or something. Of course who can forget the gigabytes of video we can capture?
Just throwing ideas around. What do you think?
edit: Maybe we could even convoy to the MB Classic Center in Irvine!
Sounds like a good idea. I wish a few more members were up north but oh well. This summer I could work on a website if you guys want, I have a little experience with that. It would be fun to do, I am definetley down. We should just call it the Patrick club.
"We should just call it the Patrick club. "
HAHA i second that...Oh btw my Name is Spelled w/o a "k"
soo its "Patric" maybe that'll be easier to read on future post

Well maybe we should start with a west coast club, but with that much area it is a little harder to get stuff going and consistent. Maybe a california club would be a good start and we can move from there. I would hate to start something that ends up with no meets and just a lot of members who do nothing.
I can tell u one thing that with fuel prices these days, drivin up to oregon would be real hard for me to do. But on the other hand this california club sounds sick! we should start makin stickers and stuff like that and get our name out there! good idear pat
Well would ya'll be interested in running biodiesel. I've been thinking of making it a summer project to secure a few wvo sources and would like to experiment in biodiesel brewing. Doing that could really cut the costs for such a drive. A drive to portland and back would be something like 3-4 tankfulls and at around 3.40 a gallon would work to well over $200. As I told my brother we are all very lucky to have an alternative. I feel bad for all the gassers that have no options and just have to keep paying for fuel no matter what it costs.
If we get some flyers going I can put them on the cars I see. There are quite a few original owner (older couples) that drive around pristine w123's in my area. I could also talk to my mechanic as well as the shop just down the street from me. We can discuss more details here as well as the next big meet in Pismo.
Zack, why don't you make a list of those you know who are in Cali and have a W123? That way we could have a complete roster of members/owners and from there we could contact them if there are any future meets. From those meets, if the selective decides to group together, the club will form gradually. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought of this, but at least we can start small. Then it will grow larger. California has such a diverse geography that we can drive to the beach one day and then up into snowy mountains a few hours after. These fun runs could be adventurous too. Maybe from there we could also bring along relatives, friends and loved ones to make it more formal and not just an individual/members only thing but more like a social event.
Bboybaroo's Oregon club I'm sure is already forming and with his testament of the number of W123s there I'm sure it's going to be a success.
Imagine this, a SoCal W123 club could be formed. Then from there a NorCal W123 club could also be formed thereafter. Both sectors could have their own local meets and if ready, both could distribute resources and establish a state-wide Cali meet for W123s and meet halfway. This could then be sponsored by local biodiesel stations, maybe even fund-raising events for a good cause. Then as an ultimate test, maybe this club could join other non-Cali clubs like Vince's Club123D or Oregon's soon-to-be W123 club.
I think it is around 75+ and 85+ cars. Pretty good size if you ask me and I haven't really even tapped the surface of owners. Sounds like a good plan. We just have to get everyone interested. How about free bbq's? Everyone loves free food. I think once people see a cause is legitamite they are more likely to join. It is a little harder to get the average owner to join if the club is not yet proven. I think with the next meet as well as the ones after (Probably be up to 4 or so by the end of summer incuding the "minis") we will likely have a more solid fanbase. Sunday is the bay area diesel meet and I will talk to the w123 owners there and see what they think of the idea. I also think a good clean and simple website would do wonders for the cause. I'm not going to be able to put too much thought into this in the next few weeks (studying and helping a friend with a movie) but lets see where this goes. It could be a fun venture.
this sunday is bay area meet please post map quest if i have money for diesel mabe i will try to make it with jeremy and wife .i think it about 350 miles from here .oh sorry this sunday is mothers day . have to go to grandmas inlaw
If you want to make him laugh, tell him (pronounced) " A-pookie-mo!" or however it's spelled.
I'll let Pat tell you what that means whenever he stops laughing to himself after reading this. My sister-in-law is Philipino and whenever my brother frightens her she exclaims those words. I have no idea why.

I'm not sure what that means, but that sounded different to me LOL I think she meant "Ay puke mo!" (pronounced "ay poo-keh mo"). To you guys it's like, "You sick fuck!"
Garrett, it's "yun" as in "yun". "Yoon" (combined with pouting one's lips and raising the eyebrows) is when you point to something with your snout
