MB Antifreeze

Is it really neccessary to use Mercedes-Benz antifreeze? Also, is there any specifice trans fluid that is best to use? Thanks!

I think so, but others may not agree. You can also use Zerex G05 which can be found at NAPA and other McParts stores.

Mercon/Dexron III for the transmission. Some use Mobil 1 synthetic.

Yes it is. Mercedes-Benz antifreeze is also repackaged and rebranded as Zerex G05 and can be found at auto parts stores. The reason this antifreeze is neccessary because they contain special additives to preserve sensitive plastic parts in the cooling system as well as corrosion inhibitors to protect aluminum parts in the cooling system.

MB antifreeze is usuallly $20+ from the dealer, but I've gotten it as recently as 5 months ago around $13 from them, unusual, but I didn't complain.
