This car, originally bought new, by my grandfather, not only has plenty of miles on it but as well as plenty of history behind it too. My grandfather bought this 1980 300D for himself, he needed a daily driver that delivered economy yet wasn't cheaply made. He was right after all of these years. Upon his death in 1988, the car was passed along to my father, whom at the time already had another car, which he thought was better than this car. He sold this car to another couple and thought that was it. His car, after he had sold this one, blew a head gasket just one hour later after he handed the title over to the couple, and was out of luck and sorely sorry for his mistake. The couple was long gone and he couldn't buy it back. Around 3 months ago, I needed a better car than my last one, and slowed down next to this car as I saw it parked on the street. It was for sale, and checking the vin numbers, to my astonishment, I had found it, the story behind the car was true. I told the news to my dad, and ironically, that same day, he had found the spare key he lost for the vehicle.
Perhaps it's still got my grandfathers spirit in it, or perhaps it's just a perfect car for myself.
