Talking

Just 2 weeks ago I took my baby, 1981 300SD, on a little road trip from Orange County to Yosemite for a few days. Then from there on to Sacramento, then home. I believe my tank capacity is 20.9 Gallons. I averaged 27mpg at 65mph (verified by my Garmin GPS). I got to Yosemite on just over a half a tank. I normally run with a high blend of Diesel Kleen. No additives on this trip though. She's got 241,xxx on her. That was definately above average fuel economy for her. Normally around town I get 17-20mpg (gotta have a heavy foot with all the crazies in orange county speeing EVERYWHERE!) and on the highway, which I drive most of my highway miles at night, 25-27mpg. I'm very happy with it. I should get some pictures up soon.

The first time I had to fuel up was ouside Sacramento, the trip odo. showed 562.x miles.

I was going to top off at the station in the national park, but it was extortion! $4.24/gallon! Am I glad I waited? Yeah, $2.9x outside Sacramento.

Next subject, Benz meetup in Southern California/road rally...anyone interested?

Anyone noticed since the new low sulfur Diesel fuel was introduced, your average mpg has increased?

My 83 300DT has increased from 25 to nearly 28 mpg. While my fathers 91 Dodge Diesel has jumped 2 mpg.

My W123 averages 24-26 in the daily city /highway circuit I drive. On a long trip thats open highway without many slowdowns or big hills I have gotten 32 mpg average on a near complete fill up several times making the same trips to the same destination. Unfortunately I rarely see those conditions very often.

I noticed that for sure. I used to get roughly 25 maybe 26 mpg tops.

Oh yeah, mine isn't a W123 so it doesn't belong in this thread, but hey W123+3= W126.
Ha.

RE: The Official Fuel Economy report thread

Just picked this car up from the original owner.
Took it for a drive to the Mountains 261 miles round trip...
Regular Diesel calculated 32.37 mpg
Filled it up with B20 today 1/2 tank at 2.71 per gal which beats
the 2.85 plus at the local Shells and 76 stations !
Purchased from 'Propel' unattended station... My biggest complaint is
at these stations Master Card puts a $125 hold on my checking account (debit card used) and that is obnoxious! Cash is not an option at these sites.

My 82 240D has been getting around 29mpg with its very tired engine. I drive between 65-75. WOT on most hills to maintain speed.

225 miles on 8 gallons of diesel at an average speed of 45mph = ~28 mpg
