1981 240d manual tranny, kn filter, driven 10 miles daily with foot 100% to floor and ac on 100%, 90% innerstate at 65mph 10% 45mph city. I live near the ramp to and from the innerstate.
31mpg Not bad for a 3700lb car with 322 lb driver driving like he stole it....
I was just reading some old Magazine ads for "The Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbodiesel" which state,
"...And EPA fuel mileage figures of 27 mpg city est. and 33 highway.*...
*EPA estimate for comparison purposes. The mileage you get may vary with trip length, speed and weather. Actual mileage will probably be less. California estimates vary."
It's my understanding that the EPA uses a dyno for these estimates.

I was a former electric wheelchair user and they also use a treadmill to test the range. Thats why a wheelchair maybe rated at 35 miles per recharge at 7mph, but in the rear world get maybe a mile or 3.

Over 90% in town driving. Combo of freeway and city streets. Many, many stops and starts. In town avg. 20-22. On the road at 80+ avg. 23. Air always on this time of year
I've been meaning to post these findings for a while. Here you go.
Final readings.

AVG MPG for 9/2/05-12/16/05 which included 12 fillups w/o additives: 21.7 MPG
AVG MPG for 12/16/06-4/14/06 which included 12 fillups with 4oz. of Power Service added: 23 MPG
AVG MPG for 4/14/06-7/26/06 which included 12 fillups w/o additives: 21.4 MPG
So, there was a MPG increase seen during the period I was adding Power Service to each tank. But I'm still not sure if the additive explains that. During that time period, I was doing more highway trips than usual, and since it was cooler outside, I did not use the A/C often, so both of those figures may have had something to do with my slight increase in mileage. The only real way to find out is to use Power Service during the summer months, and not use it during the cooler months when I don't have the A/C on and see if there's any change.
