23.94 MPG in rag doll, 500 mile old filters, and Rotella T, new front tires, pressure all at 33, post biocide treatment, this tank should hopefully be better sincethe car was EXTREMELY out of alignment. This mileage was strictly to and from work, no highway/long distance. Work commute is around 9 miles mostly 0-40 going home and on the way to work, several 20mph school zones.
Anybody know what the optimal speed is to achieve best fuel efficiency? In the city I noticed 45mph is best, right around 2250rpm or 2500rpm where the torque is near peak. On that run I was able to do 26.7mpg!
I would think the highways would be best at around 65mph, or up to 75mph. Your thoughts?

my feeling is i get better mileage on the highway doing 65mph and over...
i have not done any specific tests to confirm so it's just my guess...
at least with my engine it feels 'just right' at about 75..

Today he filled up, drove 430 miles (95% highway at about 75) and put in 15.6 gallons, so a total of 27.5 miles to the gallon. He might be able to get that up to 29 if he drives easy.
