RE: Diesel $2.59 a gal
It was explained very well by an economics analyst on one of those financial news shows, I forget which one: the world economy is booming – oil is in very high demand and we’re paying the price accordingly. The fact that diesel is cheaper to refine than gasoline does not come into play because crude is so expensive.

there was a big demand heating oil this winter and
maybe that oil is $57 per bbl has something to do with it?
time to burn anything that will burn. see the other threads this regard.
who knows maybe someday we'll be buying our fuel at the grocery store[:0]gallons of canola for our diesels.

I'm squeezing an extra 2 mpg highway with a Cetane boost additive. Anyone else got some ideas?[:D]

The price is insane.
I'm just curious, how big are our tanks?

21.1 gallons, roughly 80 liters. And I think that includes a 3 gallon reserve...?

I drove 300 miles on a almost full tank of diesel. I still have a quarter of a tank. And thats semi hard driving. Not too bad. To fill it up is around $35 for me.

What is that 2.3 reserve? Will you ever use that portion?

Yes, if you run it until it’s out of fuel and stops, but that’s not recommended.
