'83 240D vacuum diagrams

I've been looking and found lots of folks with similar probs. Just got a $200 240D w/auto trans & 96k on the clock. Figured the vacuum was played with and the trans neglected. Need help checking the vacuum system against the proper routing for this car. It has 2 switch over valves on the cam cover and 3 vac lines to the injector pump.On top on the left of the pump is a "door bellish" (round w/ adjustment screw in centre and lock nut)but the vac line has been removed. Been looking for a diagram and the closest I've found is at this link:
http://www.peterschmid.com/vacuum.htm
Can anyone walk me through my system to double check or tell me where to find a link to? Changed the fluid yesterday in the trans, got the wheels to chirp in reverse,( believe me that was not MY INTENTION) but have to sell my Volks to register this so reluctant to be with out a ride to test the trans. Well that's my sob story. Still think I'm pretty lucky!

Hi Roy.

In the picture is that wat your talking
about?

If yes, then that is the way it is supposed
to be.
It is a vent line and nothing hooks up to
it.

Your engine is the 616.

Also there should be a diagram under
the hood somewhere partaining to your
engine.
I forgot where exactly its located.

RE: '83 240D vacuum diagrams

Barabus,
I'm not sure which engine your working with but I've had great success with my 240D with auto trans. Would suggest: 1)plug EGR vacuum line 2) reroute vacuum from switch over valve for EGR (left side valve when facing engine) to auto trans switch over valve. A tee connection is sufficient. As everyone has advised me, at idle you should have full vacuum reading. half acceleration half vacuum, full acceleration no vacuum. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.

I also copied the diagram but used Paint Shop Pro to emlarge it a bit and now it's not half bad. At least you can read the small print :-)
