i bought a 94 e320 in jan knowing that it would need
a head gasket replacement. it always stayed at the
top before the replacement. afterwards it will lower
to 2 and a quarter bars at idle after warming up.
previously i had a 300sd and this was normal. i will
need to add that i got new valve stems and guides
with the new gasket. thanks for any input on this.

Looks like you missed by one forum.[:p]

If like the older MBs the op will peg at 3 bar until the engine is warm. After that at idle the gauge will register anywhere from one bar to two plus, pegging at three bar once the throttle is touched. Anything over one bar at idle warm is normal. You might want to post in the w124 forum to make sure, but I think you’re ok.
