1978 240D--Sunroof leaks

I am new to this forum. I bought this car new in 1977 for my wife. She is now a retired school teacher. After many years of exposure to the elements, when it rains the sunroof leaks inside the car very badly. Body repair people told us to just weld the sunroof, that it is standard procedure for this car and this problem.
I wonder whether there is any way to fix this problem without having to weld the sunroof.
Any suggestions will be very welcome.
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards, Hap Prado

Aww man, they are stupid. You need to clean out the sun roof vents. go to www.mercedesshop.com and do a search on sunroof vents or leaks. You should be able to find a lot on there.
