OT: Shipping to Mexico

This is OT but somewhat related to W123s. I sold my 300CD to a gentleman in Mexico (and yes, funds will be wired prior to any release of car or title).

Does anyone have experience with shipping a car to Mexico? I will retain the CA plates so the car can not be driven over. Does DAS do this? Thanks in advance for your insights...AND thanks for all the useful W123 info over the last two or so years.

I would never sell a car into mexico. You know it will be trashed within a few days.

Chances are the wire will be fake.

I, too, share your concerns. So I requested that the wire will be an electronic bank transfer to be verified by my bank, Wells Fargo. Can there still be a chance of fraud through this route?

I think there could be, but just in case, ask your bank how it would work for your funds to clear, and if there is anyway they (your mexican buyer) could reverse it, etc...

I agree..I wouldn't take anything less than ca$h..especially out of the country..ask someone at your bank in regards to your situation BEFORE you make that transaction.
Good luck.

Wire transfer is no big deal, just wait for the funds to clear before you do *anything* as far as shipping? Drive it down the border and park it on the street and leave the keys in the ign, it will make it into Mexico but probably not the right hands
