Hello all, I just started looking around the forum here and as the title states I have an '83 240D and it runs pretty good to my knowledge, im pretty much on the "if it aint broke dont fix it" criteria when it comes to the drive train but my Benz is starting to become a little too tall for my taste and ive been brainstorming on ways to lower it and the basic idea is to have it slammed. The thing is mine is one of those that dosent have SLS, it dosent have the reservoirs and other components atleast, but just shoot some ideas, im pretty much leaning towards some hydraulics for a little Hoodride Lowrider project but I want to hear what the pros have to say.
I take it the trunk of your car doesn't say the model? Only the wagons had the SLS so, no you certainly don't have SLS. Y ou could remove the sring and just cut off one or two of the coils. Good luck and post some pics of your "240D".
BTW,please fill out your profile with your modle and year, thanks. And welcome to BW

Cut a coil off. Anything else and you will be beyond the cars ability to adjust for camber. SLS on a 60hp car is ridiculous and its rear end only. Switches on one of these is ridiculous as well.

DON'T cut a coil. Not only is it dangerous to you and the car, it's also really ricer-ish.
Since you are willing to invest a few grand in a hydraulic system, get some custom springs made or swap them with the springs from a model with a smaller engine (230E).
