Mark, I see you added a 1980 240D to your signature. What did you end up with?
I found a pretty nice, local one on craigslist -- 129k miles, all books & records, Light Ivory, I think, but haven't yet verified the paint code.
It was bought new in Hollywood and kept within one family for all its life. It looks to have been well-maintained but hasn't really been driven much in the last ten years, so I've been slowly getting it back it up to speed (so to speak).
It's an automatic, which I thought was going to be a deal breaker, but it turns out I kinda like how it shifts -- a lot more active (dare I say "sportier"?) than my 300D.
Anyway, I'm having fun with it and at only $1400, how could I say no?

! Diesel Head Meet !
I'm in ! I cannot go on 1/27 as I have a Metropolitan Nash tech session that day bit I am ever so keen to see the Mercedes Classic Center !
I don't wanna hear any whining about your 240D being too slow , I drive mine to Vegas and beyond , fully loaded up and it just sails along # 65 MPH returing 27 MPG....
Please keep me posted about ANY Diesel meets ! mini or major , I'd like to meet some other Diesel heads , my brother is keen to go to , he'll bring his W-126 300SD .
