Well I did the deed this weekend... While I was replacing my lower control arm bushings I decided to cut my springs and install a set of bilstein comforts. The front dropped WAY more than I had calculated, I figured 2-3" but it dropped 4 1/2". Thats what you get when you remove 3 coils. I plan to get a new set of OEM front springs and only remove 2 coils which should get me 3" total drop. The ride is better than you'd expect, I only barely tapped the bump stops when hitting a dip and a decent speed but with careful driving it should be fine. Besides, in AZ we generally have good roads. I cut 1 1/2 coils off the rear, that is perfect in my opinion. Driving lowered cars is nothing new to me, some of my previous cars at the bottom should give you an idea.

winmutt your car is way to high. looks retaded'. aircooled= yesyesyesyesyes. This is borderline "scene" and i am excited. My car is unfortunately sky high and on hubcaps.
Theres nothing wrong with hubcaps, if i had a 300 i would of either built some widened 15" steelies for it or gone nuts and done some ML-klasse 17" widened steelies.
What you do is , you buy 4 ML spare wheels from ebay and cut out the centers, then weld them to wider 7-8" barrels and you have a sweet dished set of steelies. or you can go staggered and do 8 in the back and 7 in the front.
But again, my car is slow enough as it is and i dont want the extra weight.
P.S. i drove the car to Graham Washington this weekend for a big VW weekend and other then a blown out rear tire it performed great.

Yes they are CLK rims. No they are not staggered. I have a set that may be available. I wont swear by it but i believe someone told me these wheels are like 13 pounds.
I dont know if i ever posted my car totally finished. This is 2 coils in front, SLS dropped in the rear (worst idea ever) with all the euro gear on it.
