ignition timing for M110

so the MB tech i spoke with recently told me there are markings on the crank pulley for the degrees of timing. now assuming there is in fact a good notch on the pulley to spot with my timing light, what am i supposed to line it up with? i don't see any marks on the block at all. i have an advance timing light so as long as someone can tell me where to line up markings, i'll be set

there's a pointy pointer that's tough to see... you have to look down from the left (drivers side) over the top of the air filter snorkel (at least how that it is on my '85) I'll take a pic and mark it for ya
