Leaking Coolant- Water Pump Install Help?

Hello,

I have a 300SD turbo diesel that ran hot last night; it got into the hot area before I could pull over. I but some coolant and water into the radiator, and was able to make it home. When I checked this morning all of the coolant was gone. I put some more in, and this time noticed a steady leak coming from somewhere underneath. I am thinking that it is the water pump. I am a newbie and a girl Is replacing the pump difficult? My husband will actually do the work, but he is not mechanically inclined and unfortunately, we can't really afford to take this to a shop.

We were able to follow the directions to replace the brake pads (but really it was so easy that a chimp could do it LOL)

Any help and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

First clean and dry the area! To make sure it is actually the water pump. (they do not tend to leak).

I was thinking it was the weep hole. Which based on what I've read means I need to replace the water pump. So if someone could please help.

If it's leaking at the weep hole, your water pump is indeed, weeping. Replacement is necessary.

Glad it didn't leave you stranded for long. Welcome aboard!

I believe somebody is also posting about the water pump, and I remember one of the forumers here debating whether or not to remove the harmonic balancer to gain enough clearance. Somebody else might know what I'm talking about
