Question Strange Benz spotted

Obviously a decent chop-job on a 1970's vintage Benz. I couldn't tell you if this is a diesel or not for it had no markings.

A W114 car. Could be a 220 gasser or maybe a 220D....either way they're not going very fast with 800lbs of cinderblock in the back.

Where did you see the car? Maybe call coastlineautoshop.com and say you saw it and wanted to know if it was for sale etc. to get the specs on it.

Looks like a diesel from the size of its exhaust pipe. Do I detect a faint deposit of soot on the left side or is it just my eyes?

It was sitting in front of my Mercedes mechanic's shop in Redondo Beach, CA. I can ask my mechanic about it next time I see him. If it were a diesel, I'm sure the mpg is outstanding! All the weight savings from that rear!

My local Merc wrecker has a W123 UTE always sitting outside and it houses a 5 litre V8
