Hey guys, I was wondering what it takes to install a euro bumper onto my w123. I have been watching a few but was wondering if there are special mounts or anything I would need. I know a few of you guys have euro 123's so if you could take a shot of how it's mounted that would be awesome. I really like their look over the bulky US DOT front bumpers so if anyone could enlighten me, that would be super. Thanks guys.
When you remove your US bumpers, there are going to be holes from where the shock absorbers mount into the sections. My advice is to "plug" the holes and after that it is pretty much a bolt on procedure.
Are you really sure you want wimp, skinny Euro bumpers instead of the big, strong US bumpers? This is one of those instances where function is better than form, to me. Sure your car will look smaller, but it'll be weaker. I had a Suburban back into me at a red light once, the big cow catcher bumper stopped his bumper at a point where the trailer hitch protustion stopped just short of hitting the grille, had I had the Euro bumper, I probably would've been looking at a new grille, maybe even the radiator and condensor would've needed replacement, and all of the other good stuff in that region of the car that I'm forgetting. There's a good reason why we have those big bumpers here in the US (cough) bad drivers (cough), so I'd say keep em.

All of the above and let me tell you my story (when I still use that wimp, skinny bumper). One day(day, not night) I pull stop at the red light. Then all of a sudden this ^%*#^#!! motorcycle hit my rear. It was a mild bump, however my rear bumper is damaged real bad that I have to unscrew them and straighten them again.
That is my reason switching to US bumpers, and to tell you the truth, you US-guys should consider yourself lucky having those thick US bumpers.

The grass is always greener on the other side, isn't it? I also like the look of the Euro's, and have'nt ever had anything hit my bumper, so it is worth the risk to me. I already bought a set, and will put them on soon.
HEY OKEL!! Get your hood pad back on there! (Very nice car!)

I second everybody's advise on not going European. One day I was at a stop light and felt a nudge from behind. Didn't think much about it but I went down and this guy actually nudged my rear bumper. No damage evident but I couldn't imagine if that were the slim Euro bumpers.
