Restored my 240D

I was fortunate to purchase a one owner 1980 240D from an older couple in Florida for $1500 in 2002. It had 145,000 miles and a few rust spots and dents, but otherwise, it ran like a fine swiss watch. A friend of mine owns a small body shop and is very experienced. He owed me alot of $$, and decided to do a much needed restoration on my beloved 123 to settle the debt. Normally, one would be nuts to invest $5 - $10,000 on a car only worth a few thousand. It took nine months, but it is finally done! There were a lot of rust repairs - not easy! But the result is spectacular. I have documented the restoration on 35M, and am in the process of transfering it to digital so I can share the process with the 123 lovers here. How would I do this? Obviously, I can't post 40 - 50 pictures as attachments. Is there a site that I can post these to and share them with this forum? I'm sure it would be of interest to all 123 lovers!

RE: Restored my 240D

Sounds like a very cool project and I'd love to see the end result. I would say the best way to show us all the photos is to scan them in to the computer then create a webshots (www.webshots.com) and create a gallery of all the photos. You can give a description of each photo and have them all nicely organized. When you get it all up be sure to let us know. Best of luck!

RE: Restored my 240D

I look forward to your pics! Congrats to a job well-done.

Now the quirky decision would be, would you now drive it daily or keep it in a garage? [8)]

If you want you can also post images on some image servers and just link them rather than attach (and resize) the images here. Can't wait!

RE: Restored my 240D

Karugs, I saw your gallery photos - your car is very nice!! Mine is similiar to yours, w/o the sunroof and turbo and w/painted hubcaps. Boy, was that fun to mask off! Color is light ivory. Regarding driving, of course it would go out only on nice days, like my other two "garage queens".

Would you suggest posting the restoration pics in the gallery section?

Thanks, Roncor! Is yours a Euro version since it has no roof? Wow you really did the hubcups huh? That must have been fun [:D]

With the way you describe it, it seems you'll be able to pass it on to your son/daughter, or even theirs! Yes I'd definitely recommend that you post it here. Although if your images are high-resolution then you might want to look for other servers. Benzworld tends to resize their attached images.
