Hello to all in the 123 world, I'm currently looking to buy a second 123 today. I already have a 200 which my dad bought new in 1980 (which has been handeddown) so i'm pretty familiar with them.
Here's my problem, I'm looking to make this second one into a sleeper so it HAS to have a MB V8 in it (i'm into originality). Are there any recommendations? After doing a bit of searching i have found the M117 & M109 to be the best candidates since the M113 would involve too much work.
Has anyone done this (appart from that one at badbenz.com). Keep in mind that chevy & ford engines are rare here but Big MB V8's (and a few V12's) are a dime a dozen.
I am in the process of this very swap as we "speak". I'm using a 5.0 from an '84 500SEL, but any M116/117 should fit, so if you want the max, go for the 560.
There are TONS of things to do. That being said, it has been a great project that I don't regret. (so far) I'm in the middle of the wiring now, and it is SUBSTANTIAL! You'll need MB schematics, and an entire donor car. You'll have to carefully take apart the wiring harness form the donor, and meticulously label each wire as to where it goes. VERY time consuming.
For more info, go to Mercedes Benz Club of America / Forums / W123 / V8 in a W123?
Hi Storm, yes, I think the engine from W126 can be fit within the engine bay, but I think it will be very crowded. But it will be a very cool car once it installed!

Thanks Tiger_biru. Is that a 6.0 AMG block in the 1st pic? That second pic will really help during the installation. Hope I can repay the favour some time.
