1984 300D Turbo. Bought new in March of '84. Garaged. 394,000 miles. Superb care - oil and filter every 2,500 miles since car was purchased...by the same mechanic at our Mercedes dealership. All original, except for the addition of a remote radar detector. More pics to come (This is the only one I have on this computer).
Here are a few pics I shot real quick today, not as nice as the open above but hoping to bring it up to snuff.

Any comments would be very welcome, positive ones will even be read [:p]
This is my pride & joy. Starting when I acquired it, years ago (well, the first pic is another car's) up to this very minute.

A 300k miles car with its origions in Kansas City. Everything is in good working order. It is stored each winter and is a daily business driver during the summer. These as well as any other older mercs are extremely rare up here and the car garners an incredible amount of attention from all age groups. I have a love/hate relationship with it as I am always cleaning, and upgrading and always finding something else to improve on.
My first new Mercedes was a 1984 300D. It felt so "safe" that I found my daughter an 83 300CD seven years ago when she got her driver's license. She never put a scratch on it, but in July she was hit head on by a drunk driver going northbound in the southbound lanes. The old coupe saved her life, but sacrificed its own, as the other car caught fire and then ignited hers. There's one less 123 coupe on the road.
Why on the earth did you have to post the picture of that burned out Benz? Now I'm crying my brains out. I can't stand to see a good car go to waste. At least you daughter was safe though.
I'm going to be inheriting my brother's 87 300D in the next week or so. It was involved in a rear end accident back in early april of this year. Damage didn't look all that bad either. The insurance company wanted to total it out but we fought and fought and they finally gave up and let us have the car fixed. BIG Note to everyone: Keep all service records for your car, this is what saved my soon to be car. I'll get pics up as soon as we get the car back.
Here's my pride and joy[;)]

Jamie,
Nice coupe!! I lucked out that my first was a coupe ... nothing like them! Bob, I'm very happy to hear your daughter is ok. As much as I hate to see us lose another coupe the sacrifice was well worth it. You can lose everything tomorrow and eventually replace it all but children aren't.
Thank god the boys in Deutchland built these things rock solid! It's a classy ride and obviously can save your life. Volvo kiss my tailpipe.
