Howdy,
My son has a 1980 300SD, we wanted to put a set of 2003 s500 16" wheels to replace the 14" wheels on it.
I know that the offset is different. What size spacers will we need, and or different size lug nuts etc.
Thanks for any help.
Do you have the offset handy and a photo of the wheels? If you have the bundts on the car now, the wheel bolts will work 9 times out of 10, but if you have steel wheels, you'll need new wheel bolts.
The offset on the W220 wheels are quite high. 44mm? You need to bring it down to 23 or so to stop the rubbing of the wheel. Also you'll have to factor in the overall tire size from rolling the front fenders when you turn.
Thanks for the info, We may have to find another set of wheels to avoid hassels,
I got the S class wheels really cheap. But we may have to look for something else.
Thanks.
I will have to look up wheel and lug nut specs.
My guess is 46mm. so you would need a 20mm spacer to clear the suspension. The only factory wheels that I know that work 37mm however are very very close and are 16" are the CLK 8 spoke wheels which are not very uncommon but you have to dig around for them. I bought a set for my W115/W116 but sold em off.
