MY 1980 300SD HAS A ROUGH IDLE ON START-UP. AFTER IT RUNS FOR 5-10 MIN. IT SMOOTHS OUT A LOT. ANYONE KNOW A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM? I MIGHT BE LOOKING TO SELL THE CAR SOON AND WOULD LIKE TO GET IT RUNNING BETTER.
I'd run a can of diesel purge thru the fuel system to clean the injectors. a bad spray pattern could cause rough idle until the cylinders are hot enough to make up for it. it could need a valve adjustment too. Is it smoking a lot on startup, if so what color, smell?
