I've got a possibility to purchase a 1977 280SE in red with tan interior... I think its the leather (or whatever material the leathery type was). It's done 125,000 miles. Haven't had a chance to look at it yet but supposedly the interior is spotless and the exterior is just as good as its been sitting in a garage for the last 10 years.
What are some things to look out for? What are these cars like as a daily? Any other comments?
More importantly... lets say I want to for example convert it to a black interior... how hard would it be? Worth it? Expense? How hard would it be to get replacement parts to service it? Are new parts at all available for these things? What about a new engine? 125,000 is probably not a lot for these things but I'm just being picky and maybe I'll want to turn this into a project car with time... who knows... basically what are the prospects for rebuilding it?
