W116.12 300SD... One Owner, Looking for advise on how much to sell for or Opinions - Benzworld.org

First off id like to start by saying much respect to all you benz enthusiasts out there with a wealth of information!

Just bought this car from a old woman of failing health. The car is a 1980 300SD with 132K Miles. Almost in perfect shape. Here are a few pics. Trying to figure out what its worth...

Thats identical to mine! Well, same color anyway..yours looks a little nicer and has 20k fewer miles. Its worthless, you should prolly just give it to me

If it is as sound mechanically as it appears to be cosmetically, $5500-$6000 would not be unreasonable, IMO.

thats awesome... i would like to see yours... what color interior does it have?

these cars are so rare i would think they would be worth in the 10K+ range...

some guy offered me 7K over the phone and said he would paypal it to me right away. Im gonna put it up on ebay and see how it does in the next few days here.

Same interior. Mine just turned 150K. Other than that mine looks like its seen more wet Oregon weather, they are identical.

That's a beauty.

I sold one in similar condition with 140k miles about this time last year for $6000. My interior was same color but leather (about 2 year old replacement) and the car smelled like a new one. Yours looks like MB Tex from the picture but it's hard to tell. My exterior was a darker Manilla Brown.

Cosmetic appearance is important but to bring top dollar it will have to have a good working ACC system as well as all the suspension bits in top notch shape. $10k seems a bit optimistic to me, but you never know if you put it on Ebay what an auction will bring.

Why would you want to sell it? These W116 are an absolute joy of a car to drive.

Layed it on a little thick on your eBay ad, don't you think?? All of the references to the 6.9 and 450SEL are a little misleading.

Typical hype for cheesy used car dealers though I suppose..

...is the interior color (don't remember the color he called it in his ebay ad). Sure looks like Tex to me (which is actually a good thing).

"Thick" (in the ad copy) is an understatement.
