I bought an 82 380sec drove it home, had some items like fuel dist, needed dual exhuast(built myself",have been buying parts for my 82 380sec for the last three years , got the exhuast done and all the relays and fuel dist, how excited to have it all together, my first MB,wow what a dream come true!!, tried to start and engine seized and would not even turn with a bar and socket.. Oil, plenty fuel air garage temp perfect, so anyways tore the 380 down and found that the rings had started to shave the sides of the cylinder walls on the exhuast side only, so now what? Well as anyone on a budget knows pricing for these fine autos is a real kick in the balls. I was toying with the idea of a dodge 318 and torqueflight 727 trans and had the on hand from my sons project RAM GHARGER. Well it is my good fortune to happen across a set of 116s sold together a 1975 280 se and a 1975 450 sel both with 4.5s. Now for the fun part, fitting the 4.5s under the bonnet. Has anyone attempted this before and what should I expect to have to change ?
I wouldn't put a 6.9 in a 126.. M100's are a neat engine don't get me wrong, but it just doesn't make sense when you can get Just as much out of a 560.. Add into the equation that M100 parts are insanely expensive and it just doesn't add up. If you want do do a large NA car you can theoretically punch a 5.6 out to 6+L. Jonathan
I would agree. The power to weight ratio of the the 5.6L is much better than the 6.9 and it would fit better too since it was designed for a W126 chassis. You'd have to deal with the oiling system and the added weight.

I think, the Gentleman with the 6.9, and 6.9 limo might be very interested to buying the 6.9 if you don't. Send me a PM please.

Is the 280SE easter egg blue in color? I think it used to set on Turpin street.
Are you sure you're not confusing the 4.5 M117 with the 6.9 M100 ? What color are the valve covers? Which one do you have below?
I have the 6.9 badge on one and both look the same. they are 1975s, neither of your pics resembles the engines I have. Mine has the throttle body in the middle of the manifold also have the injectors running on the rail system with the solinoid type injectors not the cis also the exhuast are duals with manifolds that go forward then under and back. I can't read the engine numbers yet without pulling the hoses and vac lines out.

It's a D Jetronic 4.5 M117,not a M100 6.9 engine,sorry. Still a great engine though.
I wonder if you have my old W116 ?! Is it black with palamino MB Tex interior and have wire wheels? I just gave away 2 of my W116's before I left, a brown one and a black one, both with knock off wire spokes on them.
