I am the owner of the 1980 300sdTurbo and I'm just tuning the engine before I put my lovecraft conversion in. I have done the basics and noticed that the breather tube is leaking a bit, both where it comes out of the valve cover and where it goes into that large three-inch hose that comes out of the Turbo and into the aircleaner, The large hose from the turbo is dirty with oil and dirt from below the breather tube enterance.
I went to performance parts in Van Nuys for a few things and asked about replacing the large hose and and the guy there said a my have a turbo problem and I should see a mechanic. Any idea how to diagnose turbo issues?
I will take pictures and post them tonight, but does anyone have any experience with these turbos does this diagnosis sound right? does anyone know a trustworthy turbo specialist in the Los Angeles or SFV area who won't put me in the poorhouse? Does anyone know about Van Nuys Mercedes-Benz service on Oxnard Street? he did some maintenance for me , and seemed pretty good.thanks alot! Cary
