hey, i just picked this car up off of a trade and i really don't know too much about these old benz's... i know this doesnt look like a standard US spec w116 (got it in minnesota) and i'm trying to identify exactly what all has been done to it, the suspension is super low and very tight, and the spoiler is apparently old school AMG so i'm wondering if this is an AMG car... its just a 280se and i dont think it has any engine mods to it, but the handling, body work, and rims lead me to believe it may be an AMG car.. i don't know why they would have modified just a plain jane 280se, so i'm wondering if this isn't just a clone some drug smuggler dude put together a couple decades ago
That probably is a genuine AMG optioned W116, modified by the old AMG dealers in the USA (not Germany). The body kit seems to be missing the front spoiler (you can still get them - let me know if you want one as they arent cheap). The body kit on EBAY could fetch as high as $US1000 - I'd flog it on German EBAY if I were you. The wheels are also AMG supplied and ofcourse it was common for AMG to paint all chrome black.
very cool... that front spoiler would look dope but i'm pretty sure i'd destroy it in about 30 minutes as the car sits so low (i've already scraped the fenders before) but yeah that sounds good, considering i traded a 94 sho which needed some work for it also, does anybody know what silgenfiel or something similar to that word (assuming german) means and why i have that on my steering wheel instead of a benz sign? aftermarket?

Sindelfingen is the city where the plant is. Where in Mpls are you? The pics look sort of like Kenwood or Bryn Mawr.
