valve adjustment specs and porceedures?

Guess what... Haynes manuals suck, like i need to tell anyone.

Subject: 300D turbo

If anyone could get me a more detailed guide as to how to adjust valves I would be most appreciative. From what little information I've gotten from my Haynes manual its alot different from an old Chevy or Ford

These two links should help.

http://dieselgiant.com/valveadjustment.htm

Althought none of these say it but it is a good thing to
remove your glowplugs before you start this.
Reason being is that if you remove them the chance
of any compression build up is voided.
I will make turning the engine a lot easier.

Louis.

that is the most informative site i've seen to date. i knew there were some basic maintainence proceedures that needed to be done, for instance, i had no idea there was a power steering filter. i'm going to adjust my valves this sunday (weather permitting). future work will consist of a diesel purge, PS filter change and fuel hose replacement (allready replaced the injector overflow hoses). i wont be surprised to find my valves are way outta spec 'cause my friend i bought the car from never adjusted them and i'm possitive the bumpkin he bought it from never did it either.
