Proud Owner of Mercedes Benz 280S 1976

This is my 280S 1976 Mercedes Benz, i bought it some 2 months ago, with 182,000 original kilometers, i have only changed tires, and repaired the rear brakes, whose piston calipers were stuck after two years without use. I am planning to do a full engine overhaul and paint it red wine.

I hope you have a set of metric tools to work on the bitch. I've found that the German workmanship is about as good as Detroit in the 1970's.

Isn't The United States nearly the only country that does NOT endorse the metric system?

You are correct, not a whole lot of scientific data is conducted in US measurements

iiiii que linda !!!!!
the hubcaps. the colour. tanned windows. four headrests. don't change anything of it, since it's original 70th style. that's why we love these cars!! and 182.000 km is really virgin indeed. my lady has some 400.000 km e.g. - and is still in shape. keep it. and let us see some more pictures...
hasta la vista - baby

once you start using metric tools you will realize how easy the metric system is. it takes a while... but you will see what a headache standard wrenches and sockets are to use.

Well, i have just started to work on this car, i plant to paint it again, on a red color, i have my nasty toughts of painting it black but, that red color is "cleaner" than black. I need to replace the valve seals as fast as i can since the engine is puffing blue smoke. I just bought the Star Emblem, have buy spark plugs and condenser, maybe i'll buy the pertronix unit.

I have to find where to buy that front glass because has fungus in between the laminated layers. The engine runs strong, the AC blows very cold air, transmission is a 4 Speed Manual.

The paint the car got is not that bad, i just polished it and it really shines, however it was not a good quality job, and the car was in a garage without use for over two years, it gots a few rust on the underside of the front fenders and on the back, under the trunk, but it is not a lot, i got a painter that will surely leave it in showroom condition, however i'll leave the paint job until the end of the proyect since for me the mechanical condition is far more important that appeareance.

For fuel feeding this beast i was thinking of changing that leaky solex for a weber unit, or maybe a Holley Comander 2 Barrel, what do you guys think?
