77 280SE fuel pump location

Is it in the tank or on the frame somewhere? Car runs when spraying ether in the intake but that's it.

Also where in the heck is the fuel pump relay on this car? Is it one of the two that are in the fusebox that's under the hood?

Thank you.

Hey Hawk, I'll give you the "every Mercedes I've ever seen" answer, even though I don't have the specific details on your model. So...

Every Mercedes I've ever seen has its fuel pump above the passenger side rear axle shaft and mounted to the horizontal chassis structure directly above. Typically, it is ganged with a fuel filter and a fuel accumulator in the same bracket.

As for the fuel pump relay, it's a good bet if you have a relay in the fuse box, one will be the fuel pump relay. I know this sounds goofy, but if there are two, I'll lay odds the larger relay is the one. If it's Bosch, get the part number and see if you can match it with a new/replacement part at your favorite Mercedes parts website. If you need an easy way to check to see if the relay is working, let me know.
