Hello all, I've entered the world of Mercedes Benz ownership! I picked up a 1977 Euro-spec 280S. It's in pretty good condition. It had not run in 6 months, I showed up with a new battery and it started right up. Drove it a couple blocks, filled the tank topped off the oil and made my way home...60 miles with no problems. It seems to be running great, even the AC still cranks out some really cold air. I Just came back from the parts store with front and rear pads and the neccesary tune up parts. I'm pretty good with cars and doing my own work but since I've never worked on an old Benz like this I've got a bit to learn, that being said any advise, tips or help will be greatly appreciated.
BTW, here's a few things I'm still not sure on:
Oil pressure gauge - where should it be? When I'm driving the needle stays pinned to the top at 3, sometimes when I stop it goes down to 1.5/2 but it goes right back to the top once I start moving again.
Wipers for headlights - exactly when are they supposed to turn on? I'm thinking teh motors are siezed cause I run the wipers and hit the washers but I get nothing, I pulled one out and tried powering it up directly but got nothing either.
Window movement - they are deadly slow, were they normally like that? If not can I use regular grease or is there something special I have to use?

Welcome ace789!
first, as long as the oil pressure gauge returns to 3 upon acceleration (like you said) then you're fine.
second, headlight wipers turn on when the headlights are on and you activate the washers/wipers, if that doesn't work then most likely the motors are bad (like you also said)
lastly, older merc windows are notoriously slow, no they were not normally like that, probably the only real fix is to replace all the motors $$$
good luck
