RE: limited slip differential

Eaton makes a product called an ELocker which is an electronically controlled differential that allows the driver to switch between an open rearend and a fully locking differential with 100 % traction.

When it is engaged, the system triggers an armature and electromagnet that applies force to a ball ramp mechanism. When force is applied to the mechanism, the ball ramps bearings are pushed out of their pockets and up a specifically designed ramp that pushes the lock pins in the back side of the gear.Lock pins in place, the axle is locked and drives torque to both wheels. All this at the touch of a button under 2 MPH[8D]What fun this would be with that 6.9 Demon [}:)]

RE: limited slip differential

Hey now . . . Locking the diff puts tremendous strain on the drivetrain in anything but straight line travel (the purpose of the differential is to eliminate those stresses.) The eLocker is meant for situations where traction is limited by snow/mud/ice. It is not intended as a "performance" accessory. If you race it you can look forward to twisted axles and shattered spider gears. Just my 2¢.
