Just got this up to my house today after a few weeks of waiting for it to get here (Oregon) from CA. Just bought it and it bent a rod in first 150 miles... Long story but the seller did not disclose a few things....[:(!][:(!]
It was owned my a MBZ Mechanic who retired from Hollywood MBZ... Then given to his son. It had been overheating so he donated it to Easter Seals where the guy I bought it from picked it up.. It had not driven it much in the last 8 years (26k). I come to find out the temp sensor is not reading right as well. The overheating was disclosed to the seller by the charity from what I heard from original owner. But not to me...
Anyway I got to move on and get it on the road. So here some pics for you all to look over. Let me know what you think...
I am stoked that it is here, with some big help from Nutz 4 Benz I'll get it on the road over the next few weeks and then baby her for a while and give it to one of my kids... That will give me at least 10 years to enjoy it...
wow, another oregonian in the 116 forum! what a pleasant surprise. I lived in eugene when I went to school at UO... I was big into the VW scene (small but it was there). I visit eugene often, if you want help buffing that thing out even more I'd love to do it. it would be fun to meet fellow local enthusiasts. my car is in the same condition as yours. good find.
They have an Olive interior[8)]? I love the color as it is, its got taste... The dash does need some help, I'll have to look at that down the road a bit. I have heard that it is repairable, anyone seen the results of that?
The driver's side euro headlight lens is cracked, nutz what do you see on the other one or is that the one you mean? I will be replacing them soon as I can. Hope to find some local and less $.
Salvage, It would be nice to see your car too, I get to Portland offen too so let's try to setup a meet. I hope to have her running soon, it looks like it may be 3 weeks out...[:p]
