Hey guy I really need some advice. My friend decided to give me a 1975 450SE for 2/3 hundred dollar or even free. Sound like a good deal? Well here is the problems, prepare to see the list. This is the most horrible one I ever seen
Bad fuel pump- does the pump requier 30-45psi
No grill
Missing front passenger seat
Engine is running- may need new injector +seal,
sparkplug and wire.
Woodtrim are shot so is the interior. Alot of wire
are chop and chop.
Body got some rust, right front fender is a little
damage.
I will try to get some picture. It worst than I explained, I will get the picture in couple of days
The reason why I want it because I dont have to worry about emmision.
Another draw back is that it 4.5L. I got a cadillac that has a 4.6L and it quite a gasser and compare to 4.5 which is less hp.
Have anyone did any kind of engine swap on it?
How many MPG can I get out of it.
Sorry about the long message.
Any advice is appreciated.[:)][:)]

I should have the picture in by tonight. But I called off the deal. Even though I love W116, in matter of fact all model pre 1991. It was in a horrible condition that I think I wouldnt be able to complete it. Also It have a pretty big engine. Im surffering gas with my 4.6 Cadillac already. What I really want is a 1975 280S. Since I dont have to get it emission and also its a smaller engine. What Im going to look at is a W114 280S which I think will fit my need and also a better condition. Wish me luck as I attemp to merge more Benz in the family.
I'm at work so the picture will be in by tonight hopefull. It should speak for it self. And if anyone around Long Beach I found a 450SE with around 170K for 1500.

Is the 450SE the same car described in this thread or is it a different 450SE? Any pictures?
The 450SE is a blue W116 1977 W/169XXX. Its 1600, Its from a auction PM if you need more info. Its not my car.

The money you will pay to restore it is better put towards paying for a top notch version - that's more of a parts car. I've had fantasies about nursing a car like that back to health - better to buy the best one you can afford from a dry state.
As far as an engine swap - they're very reliable - and powerful, too with no emissions.
Good luck!

[:0]OOOOOOOOO!!!Any photos of your Biturbo Maserati?[:0]
I almost bought one of those back around 1990 and haven't seen one since [:p]
A friend of mine had a red 1990? Biturbo for sale last year with 80K miles or so on it. I never saw it but he apparently sold it for $2500 since it was sitting in a Long Beach parking lot for 5 years. I wonder where it is now...
wow and becourse im a fanatic about these w116.so i think u can do like this .ugot it allmost for free right.so then think like this. the cost maby the same after all.and much better is that if u restore this one and u really know what u got under the skin.after all so this must be the best choise for u.beielve me i know that fore sure,,let put it this way...lets say u got a niiiiice one for ex 4k..okay i think wow thats a nice and good one.but i prommise u u will find problems on that one to and the price to fix these problems is not cheeper becourse the car i so called nice to watch.so money to bye one and more money to repair..sound bad to me..so here is allmost free and allmost the same in price to get like u wanna.oaky a couple more bucks..but hell ye lets go for it.and then u can supercharge it ths one got 8:1ratio and remove the d jet and get a new mangement to control ure engine ..and then ure pleased ,so *smile*thats better to put ure money in this way *..hope u will enjoi ure benz...
