hey nutz--

oops-- i pushed enter, dead post=)

i saw a nice 450 sel at the junker, about 130k on its giant v8.

i had never looked at a 116 this close prior, i was about a 78 model.

thats a 4.5 engine? how much power does that car have?

shoehorn it into a w123? that was my first idea.

RE: hey nutz--

It has 180 hp at 4750 rpm and 220 lb torque at 3000 rpm. 8.0:1 compression ratio.

I was entertaining squeezing a M117 in one of my 123's
if you maybe remember, making it a 450E [:D].Anyways, blkchambers has a lot of info to share concerning swapping a gas engine into a diesel 123.Send him a PM and I'm almost positive he has a link.[:)]

IMO,just get the 116 and drive it,you'll fall in love!
It can even be a boy if you want[8D]

RE: hey nutz--

and what movie are these little animations from?

i really like the 116 door panels, theyre a thing of art.

i bet there are enough 116 sds scattered out there that a manual a/c system wouldnt be that hard, but ALLLLLL the rockers are rusted out.

there was a NICE sd with rust along every edge, but they took a sawzall to the front to get the entire driveline out. the transmission was lying there, draining on the ground, like a dead animal, i tell ya.

it depresses me. but i did get a dome light that wasnt cracked at the switch... 2.99=)

RE: hey nutz--

Cool movie, some of the best car chase scenes ever

That 6.9 is not just an incidental car in there either, it was chosen for a purpose...to outrun and destroy other vehicles[:p][8D]

RE: hey nutz--

I know US cars had all that emissions crap to comply too but, 180hp is pretty lousy for a 450

My 450 has 225hp and even my 280 has 185hp, so I wonder how different these engines were between markets

Could you bring you engines up to euro spec levels?

RE: hey nutz--

*i* could.

alabama has no emissions standards. period.

none.

there are no safety inspections either.

i am sure noone would care if it were just tuned differently. they barely take the wrecked pieces of small fords and kias off the road after theyve been smashed...
