116 as a worthwhile 240 replacement?

hey yall--

i am visiting from the 123 forum because ive finally found a 116 locally.

i like the door panels that much better. i would sell my shlomo to buy a nice 116 just for those great door panels. the upper part.

i know the climate control/cruise issues and all the diesel issues from spending a year with mr shlomo. but i want a turbo.

what sort of mileage do 300sds get? about the same as the 240, just with easier highway cruising?

the model in question is a 1980 model 300sd utomatic. the ad says it has no blowby. we'll see about that when i take the oil cap off, huh?[:p]

but yea, i really like the 240, i dont know if i want to upgrade to all power. i barely have time to maintain my shlomo how he should be taken care of.

not that im a bad benz owner, im just in economy mode right now, only changing filters until something makes it undrivable. i cant worry about a squeak or headlight adjustment, that kind of stuff.

so how are 116s in regards to the tinker factor? do they need more adjustments than a 123?

hey nutz, find me one, ill trade ya=)

Can't help you locating one but I think a member has one for sale !?!

The 123 and 116 are worlds apart and really like both models but if it came down to choosing one or another,it would be a 116.

I used to have a 80 300SD(still have this and thats from it when is disassembled it)and as far as diesels
are concerned,it wasn't boring.
