Left positions of euro light switch????

Does anyone know the purpose of this? When I turn the light switch on my 450SE euro to the left, one position turns one headlight on and the next one over turns the other one on but never both at the same time! Just curious what the point of this is[?]

RE: Left positions of euro light switch????

This is for the narrow streets in Europe where (I believe) parked cars used to leave a light on as there were no street lights. Which light was left on depended on which side of the road the car was parked.

Yep, this is my understanding as well. Although, I'm not so sure the headlights should be on. I may be wrong, but anything left of top center on the light switch should be parking lights only? I do have a US spec version, however.

Does the little orange light on the switch light up? Mine never has....

On a euro ,1 click to the right turns on the parking lights,2 clicks to right park and headlights. If you pull out on the switch and turn to position 1 right, you get fogs and parking lights and position 2 while switch pulled out, fog, parking and headlights.
I hope that confuse you like it sort of did me while typing this.[:o)]

RE: Left positions of euro light switch????

You guy's are pretty much spot on

Where I live we get/got euro spec cars by default

1 click clockwise = both park lights
2 clicks clockwise = headlights
pull out + 1 click c/w = front fogs
pull out twice + 1 click c/w = front and rear fogs
1 click anti-c/w = right park
2 clicks ant-c/w = left park

RE: Left positions of euro light switch????

And only possible with a European version of the headlight switch! Unless you rewire the current one...?

RE: Left positions of euro light switch????

Well there is actually only one fog light at the rear, depending on whether your in a right or left hand drive market the light is on whichever drivers side

I,ve rewired my tail lights in my green car, now I have the outer and inner red sections as tail lights and the middle section which is normally the tail light, now the brake light, why?... because I want to, that's why
