Body "patch" panels?

Anyone know a good (and preferably inexpensive) source for repair panels for W116's? (Please, nobody say the MB dealer since I have no intention of taking out a 3rd mortgage on my house! [:0]) I'm looking for the rockers, front valance and front fenders. Fortunately, I got lucky and that's all I can find that's rusted. [:D]

www.rustrepair.com has sills, fenders and wheelarch repair sections. I have seen fenders for less at crash repair warehouse.

Looks like they have some good stuff for my VW Bus too (one of my other projects).

By the way, I like your 6.9. I printed off one of the "finished" pics from your website and have it taped to the windshield of my Benz. My 300SD is silver also and I want to do the Euro lights and bumpers too so I thought the pic of your's was perfect for my "motivation picture".[:D]

Thanks, I got the Euro lights for a steal on eBay and the bumpers came from a gentleman who was watching the restoration. He delivered them from North Carolina himself.

I have been trying to keep my eyes open for a cheap 300SD that will need a bit of work to get going. Right now Diesels appear to be getting harder to find. Good luck with your restoration, I would love to see the progress.

I'm still striping off all the trim pieces and stuff. So far, I got really lucky on the rust. Most of it is mild surface rust. The bad stuff is the rockers and front fenders and valance but that's all and even they aren't that bad. The floor, trunk, rear quarters, etc, are perfect. Not too bad for a car I paid $300 for that has spent it's last 12 years sitting in a junkyard! Oh, and it runs.

I really do need to post some pics or better yet, do a web page on it. I wish I had taken pics of of the car where I first found it, all covered with vines and weeds. It looked sort of like a big version of one of those sculptures people make out of shrubs and stuff (whatever they are called). All you could see was the right front headlights and a little of the front bumper sticking out. I hacked it out of the brush before I knew I wanted it so I never thought to get pics until it was too late.
